A Gloucester woman says two other women attacked her outside a restaurant last Thursday, leaving her bitten, bruised and hospitalized.
Katrina Wheeler says the confrontation began inside the Pilot House restaurant and spilled into the street, where she ended up on the ground. She says she was bitten hard enough to break the skin, and that she is bruised, scratched and on antibiotics. She also says some of her hair was pulled out.
Afterward, she says she had a seizure. An ambulance took her away. A person passing by in an Uber recorded part of the confrontation on video.
Wheeler says she and her girlfriend walked out the front door to where her vehicle was parked, and then the two women came at her. "They were both on top of me," she said. "I was trying to keep myself calm, but I could feel every bit of them pulling my hair and scratching my face."
Gloucester police responded, but Wheeler says no one was arrested at the scene. The Gloucester police chief has since confirmed that charges have been filed, without saying what they are. Wheeler says the attack also reopened old wounds: she spent 12 years getting past PTSD from domestic violence and had reached a point where she no longer needed medication. "They just brought back all of that," she said.
NBC10 Boston has contacted both women who are being charged. One said Wheeler started it but declined an interview, saying she would wait for her day in court. The Essex County District Attorney's Office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
